The Technical Writer plays a dynamic role responsible for supporting the Customer Success and Training team by providing research and fresh perspective regarding software release notes, customer-facing user documentation, as well as customer base is educators and AV/IT technicians supporting healthcare education and simulation.
Responsibilities:
EMS is seeking students to work 20 hours/week during summer 2024, in Wayne, PA in a hybrid capacity to assist us in our technical writing. Interns must be able to work in the Wayne office at least three days per week.
- Write, edit, and revise user documentation in various forms, paper, on-line and multi-media
- Collaborate with development on proper web design user appearance and edit web screens for grammar, spelling and readability
- Support marketing communications in creating and editing marketing and sales literature
- Write, edit, produce, and maintain on-line (internet/web-based) documentation
- Analyze functional and technical requirements and interview subject matter experts to produce error-free reference documents, local work guides, templates, and FAQs.
- Complete writing assignments on schedule with attention to correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, and formatting.
- Create illustrations, tables, and charts to complement written content.
- Support quality assurance efforts, assemble documentation for audits and ensure that documentation is compliant with federal regulations
- Research and evaluate new documentation tools and methods; document and improve documentation processes
- Maintain documentation standards and keep abreast of current information by associating with professional individuals or societies or by reviewing professional publications, newsletters, e-mail, and Web sites
Qualifications:
- Enrolled in a curriculum leading to a baccalaureate or master’s degree in Business, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, or related field.
- Will graduate from their academic program within 12 months of internship completion.
- Strong communication skills both verbally and written.
- Have an acceptable overall grade point average, not lower than a 3.0.
- Eligible to work in the United States in accordance with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) regulations.
- Able to work in a team environment. Able to demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated leadership abilities.
