Primary Purpose :
The Director of Technology & Innovation provides strategic leadership and oversight for all technology initiatives across our K-12 school district. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining technology systems that enhance teaching and learning while supporting administrative functions.
Qualifications :
Education / Certification :
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
Special Knowledge / Skills :
Knowledge of LAN, LWAN, and WAN network design and installationKnowledge of network hardware and software applications including network servers, printers, and other equipmentAbility to analyze and resolve computer network problemsAbility to work with multiple operating systems and network protocols (Windows, Mac, IOS)Experience with E-RateArtificial Intelligence fluentExperience managing content and organization of webpagesProven record of accomplishment in technology planning and technology personnel management, ideally in a K-12 academic settingExcellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsAbility to interpret dataPreferably have experience working with mobile devices in education.Cybersecurity experienceProven ability to lead teams and manage projectsStrong verbal and written communications skills.Professional presence and service orientation.Experience :

Major Responsibilities and Duties :
Technology and Information Management
Manage, direct, and assign priorities and personnel to major projects to ensure attainment of district and department goals and objectives.Develop and implement district standards and specifications for hardware and software use, and computer networking.Devise, develop, implement, and maintain systems of internal controls, emergency and backup procedures, proper licensing, system upgrades, and disaster recovery plans to ensure integrity of information, security of databases, and internal network access control.Develop and implement a strategic vision for the use of technology in the district in both the academic and infrastructural systems.Support the carrying out of the district's strategic plan.Provide current, cutting-edge information to support decision-making on academic and administrative technology matters.Ensure that all educators have access to the appropriate tools for 21st Century learning.Focus on ensuring that network and other technology resources are used safely and responsibly rather than limiting access.Oversee all administrative aspects of technology programs and services in the district, including infrastructure implementation and maintenance, support of educators and support staff in the use of hardware and equipment and management.Policy, Reports, and Law
Implement the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rules, and local board policy in the area of information management and technology.Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required.Participate in the research of and application for technology-related grants or revenue sources.Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.Budget and Inventory
Develop and administer the technology budget based on documented needs and ensure that operations are cost-effective, and funds are managed wisely.Coordinate the purchase of all computer hardware, software, and supplies, initiate purchase orders and bids in accordance with budgetary limitations and district policies.Effectively allocate and manage resources to support strategic priorities and initiatives.Provide leadership in the purchase and acquisition of new technology and equipment. Consults with appropriate stakeholders to coordinate, evaluate and recommend new technology and equipment.Possess the understanding of industry-standard related practices and procedures of regulation and guidelines as they relate to the purchase and use of software (specifically copyright laws and the use of licensed equipment and materials.)Personnel Management
Prepare, review, and revise technology department job descriptions.Oversee the district's technology department - train, guide, support, and mentor technology team members to ensure that each of them serves as strong leaders.Select, supervise, evaluate staff, and make recommendations relative to assignment, retention, discipline, and dismissal.Professional Responsibilities
