What are the responsibilities and job description for the Education Specialist - Librarian Speciailst position at Education Service Center Region 12?
Job Description
To support the vision, mission and strategic priorities of ESC Region 12 and to provide training in the following areas to Region 12 educators to further meet the needs of students in the area of library science and media:
- Collaborate with and provide professional development to assist and support school personnel for librarians
- Provide librarian on demand services for LEAs within Region 12
- Develop and facilitate regional librarian cohort
- Keep Region 12 educators abreast of current trends and issues related to Texas Lesglisative ruling and Texas Education Codes regarding libraries, book inventories, book suitability, etc.
Education/Certification
- Texas Librarian Certification
- Texas Teaching Certification
- Valid Texas license
- Master's degree preferred
- Texas Library Association membership
Special Knowledge/Skills
- Experience in public education in library and media
- At least 8 years of relevant experience
- Knowledge and demonstrated competency of library sciences and media, including library inventory software, such as Follett
- Knowledge of TexQuest
- Thorough knowledge of recent Texas Leglisation regarding library inventory
- Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data
- Experience in blended learning
- Excellent organization and communication skills
- Positive attitude, self-starter, and team player
