Job Overview:
The Middle TN IDEA Oversight Coordinator will be positioned within the Federal Programs and Oversight, reporting directly to the Director of IDEA Oversight. The Middle TN IDEA Oversight Coordinator will lead one of the primary regional work streams in FPO and will carry out the responsibilities of ePlan, federal data reporting, district technical assistance and support for IDEA programs. This professional position requires the incumbent to provide monitoring and compliance support to LEAs regarding IDEA to the assigned districts within the Grand Division.
Key Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of IDEA program and service requirements (including FAPE).
- Knowledge of Tennessee Code Annotated and Tennessee State Board rules and policies.
- Knowledge of effective instructional practices, curriculum, teacher evaluation, special education, educational planning, budgeting, school improvement designations, and teacher licensure.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Tennessee Department of Education's online grant system, ePlan.
- Technical assistance and professional development to LEAs to include:
- Email, telephone, videocall, and onsite assistance with questions related to the allowable use of federal funds.
- Conduct monitoring of LEA use of federal funds and program implementation.
- Assistance to LEAs regarding the development of consolidated funding applications that are compliant with all federal and state laws and regulations.
- Assistance to LEAs regarding the submission of IDEA budget revisions throughout the year.
- Review and consultant-level approval of LEA consolidated applications pertaining to IDEA grants prior to submission of applications to TDOE for team review.
- Training of school staff regarding federal and state requirements as they relate to the expenditure of IDEA funds.
- Presentations at local and state level conferences regarding IDEA compliance.
- Considerable travel within the assigned grand division to provide technical assistance and support, statewide for monitoring, and to Nashville for professional development and staff meetings.
- Other duties related to the compliant use of IDEA funds.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (minimum) in relevant field
- Three years of experience with federal IDEA compliance
- Two years of experience with grant management
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office' proficiency with Excel and Word required
- Effective organizational and communication skills (oral and written)
