General Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of the Educational Services Agency (ESD), the Board Certified Behavioral Analyst is responsible for both direct and indirect support of students in the Columbia Gorge Behavioral Program and nearby Columbia Gorge school districts, encompassing all of the direct student support and staff professional development functions required to ensure a successful behavioral educational program.

Assignment/Location:
We are recruiting for a BCBA to serve the Columbia River Gorge. This position is .80540 FTE (149 days per year).

Essential Functions/Other Functions

Essential Functions:

  1. Work collaboratively within school team to supervise, design, and implement research/evidence based behavior interventions to produce positive behavioral change in students.
  2. Supervise, plan and implement training and professional development on ethical and effective behavior analytic interventions for Registered Behavioral Technicians.
  3. Lead teams in developing functional behavior assessments and behavior support plans for the purpose of providing a safe and effective educational environment for students.
  4. Conduct descriptive and systematic behavioral assessments, including functional analyses, and provides behavior analytic interpretations of the results.
  5. Design and supervise behavior analytic interventions with the school team.
  6. Develop procedures and training materials for staff involved with students with challenging behaviors for the purpose of enhancing programs for students and ensuring that program operations are in compliance with established guidelines.
  7. Conduct workshops, training, in-service presentations, etc. in positive behavioral supports, collaborative problem solving, behavioral data collection, analysis, and support planning for the purpose of developing skills and establishing effective interventions for students. Facilitate instruction to teach interpersonal conflict resolution.
  8. Collaborate with parents, the public, and the mental health community for the purpose of supporting individual student development goals. Coach and collaborate with staff members who implement analytic interventions.
  9. Work effectively and cooperatively with students, parents, teachers, administrators, support staff, and community members.
  10. Provide safe holds and other safety measures when children are acting in a manner that is dangerous to themselves and/or others.
  11. Understand and use a variety of assistive technologies and programs.

Other Functions:
  1. Other duties as assigned.
  2. Seek the consultation of more experienced practitioners when necessary.
  3. Participate in personal ongoing professional development, including the required hours of continuing education every three years for continued BCBA licensure, certification, and ESA.
  4. Maintain student records and confidentiality.

 

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & Skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Master's degree in Education, Psychology or related field.
  2. Hold a valid Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certificate from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
  3. Hold or qualify to hold a valid Educational Staff Associate School Behavior Analyst certificate.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Three years of experience in an educational setting.
  2. Knowledge of current state and federal laws pertaining to the education of students with disabilities.
  3. Experience working with children and families who are culturally, linguistically and racially diverse.
  4. Experience working with data tracking systems, IEP development using computer supports such as Excel, Word, etc.

 

Working Conditions/Employment Requirements

Working Conditions:

  1. Day treatment program setting.
  2. Sit, stand, stoop to attend to student needs and to provide instruction. Strength and agility to assist in physically maintaining a safe learning environment to include emergency response protocols in compliance with Washington State WACs.
  3. Exposure to communicable diseases found in children and adolescents.
  4. Students may use challenging or offensive verbalizations toward staff and other students with potential for escalation to physical aggression.
  5. Evening meetings with families, extended or flexible hours as necessary.
Employment Requirements:
  1. Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol or FBI.
