Hourly Rate : $19.49 - $19.50 per hour

SUMMARY : Educational Service District 123 is looking to hire temporary employees to fill in as a substiutste paraprofessional. This role is temporary, and job assignments will be as needed.

REQUIRED SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES :

SKILLS are required to perform single tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include : applying assessment instruments; operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications; preparing and maintaining accurate records; and strong written and verbal English skills.

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math; understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include : demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.

ABILITY is required to schedule activities, meetings, and / or events; gather, collate, and / or classify data; and consider a number of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing a variety of complex processes; and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and / or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include : working independently; working in a stressful environment; responding to an emergency situation / first aid; working as a team player; willing to learn new skills; lifting 100 pounds occasionally with assistance; establishing and maintaining positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues; willing to be trained in area of duty, de- escalation and collaborative problem solving; inputting data and other information; following established policies and procedures; and ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations

QUALIFICATIONS :

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with staff, students, and patrons
• Ability to follow safe work practices and procedures
• Ability to establish and maintain professional, cooperative working relationships
• Demonstrated exemplary customer service and responsiveness
• Demonstrated punctuality and an excellent work attendance record
• Must work within designated bounds of authority and confidentiality
• Demonstrate and model above average language skills
• Ability to follow supervisory directions and employ personal initiative when necessary
• Adequate health and physical stamina to withstand weather and changes of seasons
• CPR / First Aid Certificate preferred

WSP / FBI background clearance required.

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands : significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and / or pulling, some climbing and balancing, significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and / or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 5% sitting, 15% walking, and 80% standing. The job is performed in a clean atmosphere. May require lifting 100 pounds occasionally with assistance.

Hazards : Those present in a normal office environment; no known significant hazards.

Salary : $19 - $20
