Job Title: Teacher/Consultant of the Blind or Visually Impaired
Education Level: Bachelor’s of Education Degree
Certification/Licensure: Visual Impairment as per Rule 51 Requirements
Essential Functions of Position:
- Provide consultation to classroom teachers, special education teachers, parents and administrators.
- Maintain a dual role of working with individual or small groups of students and collaborative teaching with the regular education teacher.
- Serve as an active member of the MDT, IEP/IFSP processes.
- Help students establish social and academic goals and evaluate outcomes.
- Provide periodic reports to school districts, parents, classroom teachers, and others regarding the progress of students in relationship to the IEP or IFS
- Provide staff in-service on assistive technology devices that are required/used by students who are blind or visually impaired.
- Complete all the required paperwork and reports (ESU 10, school districts served and the Nebraska Department of Education).
- Develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with others.
- Willing to travel.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Regular and dependable attendance is an essential function of this position.
