Job Title: Panhandle Early Learning Connections Coordinator
Department: Early Childhood
Education Level and Certification: Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Care and Education or a related field. Experience working in EC settings and with professionals working with EC populations.
Terms of Employment: 12 month / 200 day / Schedule 3
Reports To: Director of Early Childhood
Required Job Tasks and Essential Functions:
Coordinates professional development, as per the training plan, for the ESU 13 service area to all those professionals working with the birth to 8 early childhood populations. Those professionals include, specifically child care providers, and to a lesser degree, school district preschool and early elementary (K-2) teachers and staff.
Essential Functions:
- Knowledge of: principles and techniques of supervision, work performance and other standards of employee development/training; workplace dynamics; and current practices in the field of EC services.
- Ability to plan, organize and execute training events; work with professionals from other organizations to build a training team for the region; manage budgets, communicate with community services to exchange information, build the capacity of the regions of EC workforce.
- Uses a needs assessment to collect data from professionals to determine what topics of training the grant should offer.
- Collaborates with local partners to develop a regional EC training plan each year, which includes 3 Early Childhood conferences.
- Writes the yearly grant and expends funds as the grant specifies.
- Attends state meetings relevant to topics in Early Childhood.
- Builds training capacity of local EC professionals, by coordinating travel and accommodations in order to use local professionals to train EC work force in best practice topics as shared by the Early Childhood Training Center.
- Works with state partners to share relevant training happening statewide, regionally, and locally in a quarterly newsletter, website, and Facebook page.
- Demonstrates awareness of current laws and regulations that affect children, families, and education to insure that regulatory standards are maintained.
- Keeps the Director informed of program activities, grant activities, budget operations, and financial needs in the provision of services to children birth to 8 and their families.
- Maintains required data and confidential records.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- Complies with the Standards for ESU 13 Employee Performance and Code of Ethics.
At-Will Position. This position is an “at-will” position and may be terminated, with or without cause, at any time in the sole discretion of the ESU 13 Administrator or ESU 13 Administrator’s designee.
FLSA Status: Exempt
Professional exemption: The employee has a primary duty of performing work requiring knowledge of an advanced type in a field of science or learning customarily acquired by a prolonged course of specialized intellectual instruction and study or has a primary duty of teaching, tutoring, instructing, or lecturing in the activity of imparting knowledge and is employed and engaged in this activity as a teacher.
Essential Functions: The essential functions of the Early Learning Connections Coordinator position include: (1) regular, dependable in-person attendance on the job; (2) the ability to perform the identified tasks and to possess and utilize the identified knowledge, skills, and abilities and to perform the identified work activities; and (3) the ability to perform the following identified physical requirements.
