General Responsibilities

Reporting directly to an Assistant Fiscal Officer III, the Business Manager designs, maintains, and reviews the annual budget for the school district(s).

Salary :

The full salary range for this position is $94,203.20 - $114,628.80. Offers are made at the beginning of the range.

Assignment :

This is a full-time, year-round position with remote work flexibility. This position will serve school districts within southwest and eastern Washington. Occasional travel to school board meetings will be required.

Essential Functions / Other Functions

Essential Functions :

  • Plan, monitor, analyze and provide fiscal projections for district revenue and expense budgets.
  • Prepare district budget, state and federal grants, Request for Proposal (RFP) for services, financial reports, E-rate calculation, election resolutions, and reports for the Board of Directors and Superintendent.
  • Manage and audit all districts funds, including but not limited to accounts payable, receivables, payroll, state and personnel reporting, food service reports and monthly Treasurer's report.
  • Manage internal audits and serve as a liaison between the school district and the state auditor's office.
  • Provide fiscal procedure and policy guidance to staff.
  • Assist with district long range planning. Plan for bond and levy elections.
  • Oversee capital projects.
  • Provide support for contract negotiations.
  • Provide business manager services to multiple school districts or a single school district with more than 1,000 Student FTE.

  • Minimum / Preferred Qualifications & Skills

    Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two years of business office experience working in the areas of accounting and state financial reporting.
  • Two years of experience working with automated accounting systems.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience in a regional education service agency, public school district or governmental agency accounting.
  • Experience with the WSIPC fiscal system.

  • Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI.
