Under the direction of the Assistant Program Director for Simulation, working both independently and collaboratively with the VCOM-Carolinas Simulation Center and external clients, the Director of Simulation Education will be responsible for day-to-day operations of the simulation and skills-based learning curriculum of the Master of Health Science in Anesthesia (MHSA) Program. The Director will ensure a smooth workflow of activities to meet the education needs of the MHSA students. He/she will collaborate on all educational programming. They are to handle planning, coordinating, and managing of projects on an ongoing basis as well as assist with the day-to-day tasks of simulation curriculum.
Required Qualifications:
The ability to orally communicate effectively with others, with or without the use of an interpreter is necessary. The ability to communicate effectively in writing, using the English language, with or without the use of auxiliary aides or services is required. The ability to work cooperatively with colleagues and supervisory staff at all levels is required for the position. Good interpersonal skills are required into order to interact well with the students, faculty, staff, and other personnel. Proficient adult training skills are necessary. Proficient computer skills and familiarity with word-processing and spreadsheet software is required.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare discipline (i.e., Nursing, Education, Instructional Technology, or a related field) or emphases required. Master’s degree preferred. Familiarity with best practices in simulation education and standardized patient education. Current license in good standing as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Paramedic (EMT-P).
Licensure: Certification in Healthcare Simulation Education from the Society for Simulation in Healthcare within one year of hire to this role. (Preferred if already acquired)
Experience: Minimum of five years of clinical experience (RN, PA, DNP) Required: three years of experience in clinical education with high-fidelity simulation equipment and task trainers. Preferred: Minimum of two years of medical simulation experience in a leadership role. Previous experience in clinical care and education is preferred. Experience in BLS, ACLS or ATLS is preferred.
