What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Director Finance & Accounting position at eegee's?
The Senior Director of Finance and Accounting will streamline and improve the foundational finance functions such as annual budgeting, monthly budget variances, forecasting, and periodic reporting packages for the various stakeholders (Area Coaches, General Managers, CEO, ownership, and commercial banks and lenders). The role will have financial oversight of the different value creation initiatives, including but not limited to new store openings, remodel programs, updating branding, re-focus on menu profit drivers, improving labor scheduling, and investments in technology (digital/social media, website, apps, tablets, software) designed to create a seamless guest experience. This role will function as the head of the finance department and
report directly to the CEO, with a dotted line to the equity investors.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepares GAAP financials (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement) on a monthly and annual basis with variance reporting to prior year and budget.
- Executes a structured monthly close process, weekly reporting to Area Coaches and General Managers and improving the process for the company’s annual GAAP audit.
- Manages controller functions.
- Champions cost-containment and cash management.
- Partners closely with Senior Directors of Operations and People Operations to achieve goals.
- Enhances and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools, and control systems to better manage the business and to facilitate annual reviews/audits with limited adjustments; ensure that reasonable financial approval processes are in place and followed.
- Oversees the Company's capital structure and balance sheet while maintaining a laser focus on cost containment and cash management.
- Prepares daily, weekly, and monthly financial reporting packages for Area Coaches, General Managers, CEO, and ownership; manage appropriate reporting requirements for commercial banks and lenders.
- Continually improves the timeliness of financial reporting and the quality of business planning, budgeting, and financial analysis; facilitate the development of robust financial analytics and metrics.
- Manages day-to-day finance functions, including responsibility for the management of accounts payable & accounts receivable as well as in-house payroll.
- Collaborates with CEO and ownership to determine the appropriate level of funding to support growth and changes in Company's business strategy.
- Maintains all business licenses, permits, and contracts.
- Responsible for financial oversight to include creating thoughtful ROI analysis, creating budgets, and monitoring the economic success of the initiatives.
- Oversees traditional accounting and controller functions, overseeing financial reporting, treasury, accounts receivable (“AR”) and payables (“AP”), payroll, IT, and administration (legal, contracts, insurance, etc.).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Advanced Excel skills (sumifs, pivots, vlookup, index matches) and ability to build multi-faceted spreadsheets.
- Ability to identify business improvement opportunities and work as a partner with operations and sales to capitalize on those opportunities.
- Hyper-organized with a high degree of attention to detail
- Ability to learn and adapt.
- Self-starter mindset with a confident and proactive approach
- Ability to build relationships with store-level and corporate employees.
Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience
- CPA
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or equivalent.
- Seven (7) or more years of combined accounting and finance experience.
- Five (5) or more years of finance experience overseeing annual budgets, reporting packages, KPIs.
- Experience in budget management and GAAP.
- Five (5) or more years of accounting experience in leading audits and preparing books in accordance with GAAP.
- Recognized firm experience (big 4, large regional, national consulting firm); or Fortune-recognized or similar caliber company; or investment banking or extensive experience working with institutional investors, or public accounting experience, CPA, and extensive finance-related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or equivalent
- Certified Public Accountant
- Private equity experience
- Experience with Restaurant 365
- Experience working with institutional ownership and multi-unit businesses.
- Experience working in the hospitality or quick service restaurant industry.
