Position Description

TITLE: Mortgage Lending Assistant

DEPARTMENT: Mortgage Lending

REPORTS TO: Senior Vice President of Mortgage Lending

SUPERVISES: N/A

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

Purpose:

Responsible for assisting Mortgage Lending Originator by collecting and organizing documents for Mortgage Lending Originators review. Also responsible for editing data, sending disclosures, and ordering services. The Mortgage Lending Assistant is responsible for contacting prospective members, realtors, homebuilders, land developers, real estate attorneys, accountants, financial consultants and real estate appraisers as needed. This role may also include counseling members and potential members about appropriate mortgage lending products, features and benefits, and examines, evaluates, and recommends approval of member applications for residential real estate loans. May be required to represent the Credit Union at community functions and events.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists in obtaining, organizing credit reports, income, assets, and other information pertinent to loan applicant's evaluation.
  • Edits the Loan Origination System for the Mortgage Lending Originator to analyze applicant credit worthiness.
  • Corresponds with applicant, agents, and other third parties to resolve questions regarding application inquiries.
  • Maintains and monitors the loan pipeline for disclosure deadlines, rate lock expirations, ordered services, and estimated loan closing dates.
  • Addresses multiple demands simultaneously, including a high volume of phone calls, prompt return of same, all while maximizing high quality customer service and efficiently administering and processing loan applications.
  • Attend community activities that allow network building with those who can refer prospective loan applicants.
  • Meets with members in the field to conduct interviews and request specified information for loan applications.
  • Promotes and cross-sells other Credit Union products and services as appropriate to member requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Pay Grade - 7

$18 per hour

Additionally, $100 per closed loan will be paid within EFCU's defined pay periods.

Position will be posted internally from Tuesday, March 25, 2025, thru Tuesday, April 1, 2025.

Requirements:

Critical Knowledge, Skills, and Educational Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • One to three years experience in banking, lending or sales that can be applied to mortgage lending origination.Must be eligible to register with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS) and must maintain registration with NMLS as a registered Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO).
  • Additional regulations applicant should understand include, but are not limited to: HMDA, Regulation Z, Regulation B, the FHLMC, FNMA, FHA rules and processes.
  • Knowledgeable of Regulatory Compliance Requirements of a Depository Financial Institution.
  • Must have reliable transportation and an acceptable driving record (mileage will be reimbursed), valid driver license, and proof of insurance.
  • Ability to work independently while still meeting the goals of the position.
  • Excellent telephone etiquette and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Must be dependable and reliable.
  • Must pass all credit and bond requirements.
  • Knowledge of Credit Union products and services is a plus.
