Class specifications are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed by employees in the class. Specifications are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job.
Under general supervision: operates fire trucks, pumpers, hoses and extinguishers during fire suppressions and/or rescue operations; tests and maintains fire detection and suppression equipment; inspects and prepares fire pre-plans for building, grounds and facilities; maintains fire station buildings, facilities and apparatus; responds to fire alarms, emergency medical calls, traffic accidents, rescue and other emergency calls to protect life and property; participates in training, drill and independent study activities; conducts fire safety education classes; performs various staff support assignments; and performs related work as assigned.

Education: Completion of a high school diploma or the equivalent.
License: Must possess at time of appointment, a valid Georgia Class C Driver’s License and obtain within the first twelve (12) months of employment, a Georgia Class F Non-Commercial Driver’s License.
Certification: Firefighter I, ICS 100, 200, 700, 800, Haz-Mat Operations certifications must be obtained within the first six (6) months of employment; and additionally; Georgia State Certified Firefighter, Georgia Medical First Responder, Structural Fire Control, Interior Search & Rescue I certifications must be obtained within the first twelve (12) months of employment.
Other Requirements: Be at least eighteen (18) years of age, with no felony convictions within the previous ten (10) years.
