About The Role:
The Assistant Controller manages the day-to-day accounting functions including overseeing the accounting team. This role plays a pivotal role in compliance, quality assurance, risk management, and process improvement. This role is responsible for ensuring that business transactions are recorded and maintained in the accounting records in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) standards and federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate for this role is highly detail-oriented, has an eye for process improvement, and has a proven track record of leading a dependable and efficient team.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with and assist the Chief Financial Officer with all accounting processes
- Assist in the preparation and review of financial reports for senior leadership
- Analyze and provide insights into the company's financials and future trends
- Assist with bonus calculations and payments
- Maintaining a system of controls over the payroll process
- Regularly audit financials to identify and address discrepancies
- Oversee and/or prepare account reconciliations
- Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
- Prepare month/quarter/year-end functions in compliance with GAAP and company policies
- Maintain bank account and credit card reconciliations
- Develop processes to streamline accounting workflows and improve the accuracy of financial data
- Train accounting staff, provide regular coaching, and perform regular performance reviews
- Perform accounting functions as needed to cover staff absences
- Keep up to date with laws and regulations; disseminate information and train as needed
- Provide Ad Hoc reporting as assigned
Skills and Qualifications:
- 7 years of accounting experience
- Must be reliable and dependable
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent follow up, documentation, and communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of AR, AP, Payroll and GAAP
- Experience with Salesforce preferred
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with Sage/Timberline accounting software required
- CPA or CMA certification preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- 3 years of experience supervising accounting teams
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
Location: In Person - Las Vegas, NV
Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 – 5:00 PST
Salary: $80,000-$100,000 annually
