Maintenance Technician - Enjoy a rewarding and challenging position with a nonprofit organization helping educate, train, and provide employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities since 1955. We are currently seeking applicants for a full-time Maintenance Technician who will be responsible for the upkeep of the facility, including but not limited to repair and maintenance of the building, grounds, facility, and equipment safely and efficiently and following current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties and responsibilities represent the essential functions of this job that an individual must be able to perform with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Clean and repair building fixtures including lights, locks, windows, doors, screens, walls, floors, gutters, and drains.
- Operate and perform routine maintenance and repairs on facility equipment and related systems.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that building systems operate efficiently and that the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
- Perform maintenance tasks such as carpentry, drywall, painting, plumbing, and electrical repairs to ensure that the building is properly maintained.
- Work with the Director of Facilities (DoF) to ensure maintenance functions are performed properly and promptly.
- Respond to on-call emergencies promptly.
- Use of general maintenance equipment including but not limited to hand tools, ladders, landscaping, floor care, and required safety equipment safely and efficiently.
- Inspect grounds, buildings, and other features daily to identify required maintenance tasks, minimize liability concerns and always ensure excellent curb appeal.
- Follow policies relating to but not limited to OSHA and other organizational safety standards.
- Assist customers as needed with a courteous demeanor.
- Maintains a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Participate in training classes and meetings assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Local travel in fleet vehicle

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, & EXPERIENCE:
The following qualifications represent the training, education, certifications, licensures, and/or work experience required to perform the essential duties and responsibilities successfully:
- Minimum three years of experience in facility maintenance including basic electrical and plumbing diagnostics and repair.
- Must have basic tools for the trade.
- HVAC and plumbing experience preferred.
- Clearance through criminal background investigation and pre-employment drug screening required.
- Knowledge of general construction, carpentry, electrical, and plumbing practices
- Ability to organize, manage, and prioritize tasks.
- Effective oral and written communication skills Proficient with Microsoft 365 and other applicable software systems

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Physical demands : Performing the duties of this job requires near visual acuity, the ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds, and gross manipulation. Additionally, the employee:- Must be free of tuberculosis in a communicable form.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds, bend through a full range of motion, and stand for two or more hours.
- Able to work in confined spaces, tolerate elevated temperatures.
- Able to communicate orally and in writing.
- Work environment : While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be in industrial settings and is sometimes performed outside during inclement weather. Must be able to tolerate a work environment that is prone to high and low temperature fluctuations, dust, dirt, lint, and industrial fluids.
