EGS is seeking a Radiation Waste Engineer with project management experience along with experience designing, systems for the safe handling, treatment, and disposal of radioactive waste generated by a Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR)

Key responsibilities may include:
• Analyzing the composition and activity levels of radioactive waste generated from a PWR reactor to determine appropriate treatment methods.
• Designing and implementing processes to condition and solidify radioactive waste into a safe and stable form for storage or disposal, including techniques like solidification, vitrification, and encapsulation.
• Contributing to the design and engineering of on-site storage facilities and long-term disposal repositories for radioactive waste, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Monitoring and ensuring adherence to all applicable nuclear waste management regulations and standards (e.g. RG1.143/ ANS55 series).
• Performing safety assessments of waste handling and disposal operations, including radiation protection measures and emergency response plans.
• Preparing detailed technical reports, calculations, P&IDs, requirements management matrixes, and other documentation regarding waste management activities, including data analysis and performance evaluations.
• Coordinating procurement of radioactive waste system equipment and 3D layout of the design defined in the P&ID.
• Overseeing and coordinating waste management projects, including budget management, schedule adherence, and contractor oversight.
Required skills and qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
• Strong understanding of nuclear reactor operations, particularly PWR or AP1000 design
• Expertise in radioactive waste management principles and techniques, including treatment, conditioning, storage, and disposal
• Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and compliance procedures
• Experience with radiation protection practices and safety protocols
• Proficiency in engineering design software and data analysis tools
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
