EHC is currently looking for a Senior Cost Accountant for a client in the NW Houston area.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, Flexible start between 7:30 am - 9:00 am but must work 8 hours.
Some hybrid schedule - 4 working days a month (Friday's) depending on business needs.
Team Size: 12
Experience & Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 5 - 8 years of cost accounting experience in a product manufacturing or chemicals manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of accounting theory, cost accounting concepts, and applications of principles (GAAP).
- Experience with inventory and costing in JD Edwards ERP system.
ERP implementation or conversion experience a plus.
- Efficient with large data sets and analytical outputs.
- Advanced Excel and BI skills.
Financial modeling and dashboard creation with Power BI experience a plus.

Responsibilities Include:
Excellence in Financial Reporting
- Preparation and review of month-end journal entries.
- Review of inventory related reconciliations in Blackline.
- Periodic inventory variance analysis with high level of knowledge of inputs and drivers.
- Ensure completion of all inventory and manufacturing controls.
- Lead in timely submission of audit requests for inventory testing.
Product Cost Accuracy
- Own and coordinate execution of cost rolls with clear communications to the business.
- Detailed cost analysis and develop standard operating review process.
- Evaluate labor and overhead rates for multiple manufacturing/DC sites as set in the ERP system; propose adjustments as needed to reflect “true” product cost/profitability.
- Review Bill of Materials, Routers, Overhead Rates, throughput rates, and purchased raw material prices.
- Prepare product costing and profitability analysis.
Inventory
- Use data, analytics, and business knowledge to help support what a “healthy” inventory level is for the business.
- Analyze inventory turns by product and find opportunities to improve within the unique supply chain context of that product.
- Lead physical inventory counts, review, and analysis.
Reporting & Analytics
- Understand and explain manufacturing variances in the monthly P&L. Provide guidance for any operational changes needed to rectify variances.
- Develop and standardize automated labor utilization/efficiency/productivity metrics and collaborate with sites to drive targeted outcomes.
- Monitor variable costs do not exceed volume trends.
- Ad-hoc financial reporting and analysis as needed by management.
Finance Support
- Develop KPIs and dashboard to help the manufacturing function and non-financial business leaders understand important cost trends.
- Partner with supply chain to manage commodity cost tracking and monitor financial impacts.
- Support inbound and outbound freight analysis and forecast model.
- Enhance and maintain internal capex tracking and forecast.
Organization:
- Reports to the Director of Finance and Analysis for the Contractor Solutions segment.
