TBG | The Bachrach Group is partnered with one of the leading chemical manufacturing companies globally on their search for a SENIOR COST ACCOUNTANT. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of accounting experience within the chemical manufacturing industry, oil and gas or public accounting. A bachelor's degree in accounting / finance or any related field is required and a CPA is highly preferrable.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Manage accounting processes specific to plant operations such as P&L, as well as statement and balance sheet accounts.
- Coordinate and communicate with plant staff regarding corporate objectives, guidelines, SOPs, deadlines and other accounting activities or requests.
- Complete month-end, quarter-end, and annual close tasks including accruals and reviewing financial information to ensure financials are reported accurately and in a timely manner.
- Prepare, review and post journal entries while maintaining other documentation required for approvals.
- Assist plant leaders with cost savings / profit improvement programs, accounting best practices and sometimes serve as back-up for other team members on vacation.
- Analyze pre- and post- close variances to understand root cause and outline a corrective action plan. Prepare monthly variance analysis and reporting package for leadership team vs. budget, prior year as well as forecast analysis.
- Perform analysis on inventory change P&L accounts to identify, explain and report on manufacturing variances from standards.
- Prepare monthly forecasts and annual reporting expense and capital budget reports and present to leadership as needed.
- Manage inventory accounting processes - provide support with periodic inventory verification process to ensure that counts are performed properly and adjustments are posted.
- Complete month-end inventory reevaluation procedures to establish slow-moving reserves and handle overall costing of inventory. Ensure BOM and inventory costs are accurate while investigating month-end count variances and plan corrective actions.
- Responsible for good receipts and ensure they are properly processed, accrued and matched with vendor invoices and outstanding items are cleared.
- Provide support with intercompany AR/AP transactions and balance with counterparts monthly.
- Research and apply technical US GAAP requirements, facilitate internal and external audits needs and perform additional ad-hoc analysis and reporting.
- Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting with 3 years of progressive experience in public accounting or at least 5 years of industry experience within chemical manufacturing.
- CPA, CMA or Master's Degree is highly preferred.
- Working knowledge of SAP and BPC accounting systems.
- Previous experience within manufacturing with AP, inventory accounting, fixed assets, general and cash accounting, financial analysis and reporting and multi-plant budgeting.
