NIH Stroke Certification

Job Details

ICU – 3 / 12s Nights

Unit can only approve RTO of no more than 4 days off in a row

MUST have 2 years of ICU experience

Unit accepts 1st time travelers

Average Daily Census : 20

Schedule Requirements : Required to work 3-4 weekend shifts per month, may be placed on call, may be required to float to MS / Tele, SDU

EPIC Charting System

Accudose

Adult ICU, no trauma, no BMT – covers all other ICU illnesses and conditions

Patient Diagnoses : Must have strong Cardiac experience, Respiratory, Stroke, Sepsis, DKA, Post-operative complication, pre-post cardiac cath experience required, STEMI patients, chest pain, MI

CVICU (CTICU) cardiothoracic surgery (will specify if this type of RN needed) / Neuro assessment- strong skills – hemorrhagic stroke

Special Procedures : Central line placement, arterial line placement, EKG, Peripheral A-Line experience required, Cardiac drips : norepinephrine, dopamine, vasodepressin, neosynepherine, epi, amino, Drips : precedex, propofol, heparin, Intubation, Tracheostomy, Thoracentesis, Paracentesis, Dialysis catheter placement, Therapeutic hypothermia, IABP – only if specified CVICU / CTICU, Pacemaker

Job Requirements

ACLS

Must have strong code management skills – defibrillation skills

Neuro Stroke Assessment skills – must be 4 or more

Neuro Intensive Care Unit skills required

Surgical Intensive Care Unit skills required

Interpretation of dysrhythmias

Management of dysrhythmias

Multi-system organ failure skills required

IV insulin protocols

Chronic / Acute Renal Failure skills required

Arterial line management

Blood Product Administration

Central line care / management

PICC line management

Starting IVs

Continuous IV sedation

Procedural Sedation Administration

Titrate Cardiac drips

Titrate vasoactive drips

CVA / Acute Stroke management

Care of Ventilated Patient

Suctioning (ETT, NT)

Ventilator Management skills

Infection Prevention skills

Isolation Precaution / Use of PPE

Schedule Information

Orientation : 24 hours, 3 days NEO nights, 1 day shift

Scrub color : Navy

Flu vaccinations required – exemptions accepted on a case-by-case basis
