Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse for our Operating Room team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical background and be committed to providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced surgical environment. As a key member of the surgical team, the Registered Nurse will ensure the safety and comfort of patients undergoing surgical procedures while collaborating effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments prior to surgery, including reviewing medical histories and performing physical examinations.
- Monitor vital signs and manage patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures.
- Assist in the preparation of the operating room by ensuring all necessary equipment is sterile and ready for use.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to provide comprehensive care, including administering medications and IV fluids as prescribed.
- Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Cerner.
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations and assist in coding for medical records as necessary.
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and workers' compensation law.
- Provide education to patients and their families regarding post-operative care and recovery processes.
Skills
- Proficient in patient assessment techniques and performing vital sign checks.
- Experience with Cerner or similar electronic health record systems.
- Knowledge of diagnostic evaluation processes relevant to surgical nursing.
- Ability to phlebotomize patients when required for testing or transfusions.
- Familiarity with emergency room (ER) protocols is a plus.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment.
