Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse for our Operating Room team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in surgical nursing and demonstrate proficiency in aseptic techniques, diagnostic evaluations, and patient care. This role is crucial in ensuring the safety and well-being of patients undergoing surgical procedures. As a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room, you will collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for surgery by conducting thorough assessments and obtaining vital signs.
- Maintain a sterile environment by adhering to aseptic techniques throughout surgical procedures.
- Assist in the administration of anesthesia and monitor patients’ responses during surgery.
- Provide support to the surgical team by anticipating needs and ensuring all necessary instruments are available.
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations and document patient information accurately using medical terminology.
- Educate patients and their families about post-operative care and recovery processes.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive care plans for outpatient or inpatient settings.
- Stay informed about workers' compensation law as it pertains to patient care and documentation.
Experience
Candidates should have:
- A valid Registered Nurse license with experience in an Operating Room setting.
- Knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology, and vital signs assessment.
- Familiarity with hospice palliative medicine practices is a plus.
- Experience working in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is desirable but not mandatory.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
