Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse for our Operating Room team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in surgical nursing and demonstrate a commitment to providing high-quality patient care. This position requires expertise in various nursing practices, particularly in a Level II Trauma Center environment, and the ability to work collaboratively with surgical teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Duties
- Prepare patients for surgery by conducting pre-operative assessments and ensuring all necessary documentation is completed.
- Assist surgeons during operations by providing instruments, sutures, and other supplies as needed.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and overall condition throughout the surgical procedure.
- Collaborate with anesthesiologists to ensure safe anesthesia administration and patient comfort.
- Maintain a sterile environment in the operating room by adhering to infection control protocols.
- Educate patients and their families on post-operative care, including wound management and recovery expectations.
- Document all nursing interventions and patient responses accurately in electronic health records, including familiarity with Athenahealth.
- Participate in ongoing education and training related to surgical procedures, medical terminology, and best practices in patient care.
Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Experience in an Operating Room setting preferred; familiarity with Level II Trauma Center operations is a plus.
- Knowledge of ICD-9 coding, triage processes, and workers' compensation law is beneficial.
- Experience or training in long-term care, senior care, home care, dementia care, or related fields is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and ability to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals and patients.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a compassionate approach to patient care.

Pay: $60.00 - $65.00 per hour
