Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Scrub Tech to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the operating room, assisting surgeons and ensuring that all necessary instruments and supplies are available for surgical procedures. This position is essential for maintaining a sterile environment and supporting patient safety in both ambulatory surgery centers and Level I Trauma Centers.
Duties
- Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies required for various procedures.
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, sutures, and other necessary items.
- Maintain a sterile field throughout the surgical procedure to prevent infections.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and assist with data collection as needed.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure efficient workflow and communication during surgeries.
- Utilize Epic software for documentation and tracking of patient information.
- Demonstrate knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, and surgical procedures relevant to pediatrics and medical-surgical settings.
- Participate in post-operative care by assisting with dressing changes and patient education.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in an ambulatory surgery center or Level I Trauma Center is preferred.
- Proficiency in suture techniques and understanding of vital signs monitoring.
- Strong knowledge of physiology and medical terminology related to surgical practices.
- Ability to collect data accurately and maintain detailed records.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist or equivalent training is highly desirable.
- Willingness to adapt to various surgical specialties and procedures as needed.
