Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The ideal candidate will provide high-quality nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical procedures. This role requires a compassionate approach, strong clinical skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The RN will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and support during the recovery process.
Responsibilities
- Monitor patients' vital signs and overall condition post-surgery, ensuring stability and safety.
- Administer medications and manage intravenous (IV) lines as per physician orders.
- Provide airway management and support for patients in recovery.
- Conduct thorough assessments to identify any complications or issues that may arise post-anesthesia.
- Implement acute pain management strategies tailored to individual patient needs.
- Assist with discharge planning, ensuring patients understand their post-operative care instructions.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop health coaching strategies for improved patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care activities and responses in compliance with hospital policies.
- Engage in continuous education regarding trauma medicine, behavioral health, and neonatal ventilator management as needed.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice.
- Experience in PACU or critical care settings is preferred.
- Proficient in basic life support (BLS) techniques; advanced certifications such as ACLS are a plus.
- Familiarity with cardiac catheterization procedures is desirable.
- Knowledge of laboratory protocols related to post-operative care is beneficial.
- Strong skills in airway management, discharge planning, and acute pain management are essential.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide empathetic patient care.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
