What are the responsibilities and job description for the Physical Therapy Receptionist position at El Campo Memorial Hospital?
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of a Physical or Occupational Therapist or Physical Therapy Assistant or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant the receptionist/registrar may be requested to assist in treatment of patients in the outpatient area to restore function and prevent disability following disease, injury or loss of a body part. These duties are to be carried out by the direct supervision of licensed staff. The primary responsibility is for the maintenance of departmental functions as outlined below
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Assists with patient care under the supervision of professional staff
- Prepares the department for daily activities
- Develops and maintains effective communication with the patient, family, staff members and outside referral sources
- Demonstrates an understanding of public relations. Contributes to the delivery of cost effective healthcare
- Participates in continued application of standards required by all applicable accrediting bodies.
- Maintains patient information
- Performs tasks not herein identified but assigned by supervisory staff.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: High School Diploma. Computer skills required. Microsoft Work, email, Ability to FAX, scan documents, web skills
Physical Demands: Prolonged, extensive or considerable standing/walking. Occasionally lifts, positions, transfers and transports patients. Occasionally moves supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs from locations at or above shoulder level. During an evacuation, may have to assist patients on stretchers or wheelchairs.
Working Conditions: May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases, but will be expected to utilize universal precautions as delineated in the Infection Control Manual. This job is rated as a moderate risk of exposure. Occasional exposure to unpleasant elements, including heat, cold and humidity. May work with combative patients. Will be expected, as directed by supervisor, to provide services for any area in the hospital in which the employee demonstrates competency.
