JOB FAMILY SUMMARY PURPOSE:
Under general direction of the General Counsel, the Legal Operations Support Manager will be responsible for driving and supporting legal department operational excellence in two main ways. First, this position will play a lead role in assessing, deploying, and managing the Legal Department’s systems and projects, including serving as the subject matter expert for all legal technology systems. Second, this position will provide day-to-day legal operations support, including administrative tasks. In addition to legal support, the focus of this role is on driving efficiency and productivity, implementing a state-of-the-art technology infrastructure utilizing best of class tools and systems to automate processes, creating knowledge management capabilities, setting information governance standards, and improving processes and technology.
EDUCATION:
Bachelors in from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Finance, or Information Technology, (ii) successful completion of a paralegal program accredited by the American Bar Association or Certified Legal Assistant designation or (iii) an equivalent combination of training and experience.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Experience in a legal operations role or in a position involving substantial interaction with, and use of, technology software in a legal or corporate setting.
- Experience as a legal assistant or paralegal with progressive responsibilities and experience in energy, corporate law, commercial law, or litigation.
- In-depth understanding of, and the ability to, effectively communicate details and issues related to legal systems, processes, and projects.
- Experience summarizing business requirements and technical specifications, creating project plans, and managing technical projects.
- Experience with data management, process design and data warehousing principles is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to independently lead and manage project teams and prioritize a heavy workload under tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated experience in the preparation of legal documents and organization of complex files related to legal matters.
- Comprehensive knowledge of legal research methodologies and practices and procedures of law offices.
- Ability to examine and evaluate data and present alternative actions in relation to the evaluation.
- Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Skills and knowledge of use of personal computers and associated word processing and spreadsheet applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, and other Microsoft products.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Understands legal department workflows and recommends and builds processes to drive department efficiency.
- Develops performance metrics and dashboards.
- Manages department technology to track costs and trends, address process and efficiency issues, and develop effective strategies to capture and manage data.
- Supervises the process of billing and communication with outside law firms; uses analytics to identify opportunities to partner with firms more effectively; tracks cost and performance related metrics for outside counsel.
- Work with law firms and other outside vendors, including RFPs, restructuring fees & managing Alternative Legal Service Providers.
- Supports the IT architecture and strategy for the department; works with IT to choose and implement applications.
- Ensures change management for all program and system implementations.
- Supports the General Counsel in the department's communications strategy.
- Partners with Finance and Accounting functions to establish budgets and create meaningful reports and a streamlined budgeting process.
- Manages office administration and the support infrastructure for Legal Department. Plans Department activities and team building events.
- Supports General Counsel in connection with regulatory, legal, and corporate filings.
- Manages department intranet, keeping information up-to-date, including department policies.
- Develops, maintains and enhances data-driven metrics and reporting tools for legal technology systems, including Microsoft Power BI.
- Reviews, analyzes and summarizes complex legal documents.
- Drafts legal documents and correspondence and ensures all petitions and documents filed.
- Researches and analyzes law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, and legal codes to prepare legal documents such as briefs, motions, appeals and contracts for review, approval and use by attorneys.
- Develops and implements procedures for completing recurring legal events.
- Responds to requests for production and answers interrogatories.
- Performs administrative tasks to support attorneys.
- May attend Company meetings and various regulatory meetings.
- Performs other related tasks that are not included, but are within the context of the duties defined.
- Complies with all applicable Company policies, procedures and code of ethics as well as all applicable governmental laws and regulations to include employment, safety and environmental standards and regulations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The incumbents in this classification are not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; the primary work environment is typically of an office or administrative nature.
