We are seeking a part-time Medical Biller to join our unique clinic. We are the only dedicated pediatric epilepsy clinic in the El Paso region. Our mission is to make lifesaving specialty care accessible to all children with seizures and epilepsy, regardless of language proficiency, health insurance, or ability to pay. As a Medical Biller, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our clinic operates efficiently by supporting the billing process, contributing to the financial stability of the organization, and ensuring that families receive the care they need.

Key Responsibilities
- In-Network Verification: Maintain an up-to-date list of insurance providers that the clinic is in-network with, ensuring that patient insurance information is accurate and current. Keep a detailed insurance verification schedule to streamline patient intake and billing processes.

- Billing Claims: Accurate and timely submission of claims to various insurance companies, including government programs. Prompt follow-up on unpaid claims.
- Review patient records and ensure that all necessary documentation is complete and accurate. Ensure appropriate ICD-10 codes are utilized for procedures and communicate with healthcare providers to resolve discrepancies
- Medical Records Compliance: Maintain organized medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and adhere to legal standards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other departments within the clinic, such as front desk staff and clinical providers, to resolve billing issues, streamline processes, and improve operational efficiency.
- Ongoing Education: Stay informed about changes in medical billing regulations, coding practices, and insurance policies to ensure that all billing practices remain compliant and up to date.
- Staff Training: Assist in training staff on effective insurance verification techniques, claim submission, and the handling of billing discrepancies. Your knowledge will help ensure the team operates efficiently and with the highest level of accuracy.
Requirements
- Some experience in basic medical billing, coding, or insurance verification is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills with clinic members and insurance representatives
- Some experience in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing software; training will be provided as needed.
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and grow in a supportive team environment.
- Certification in medical billing or coding is beneficial but not required.
