Position Summary: 

 

The ideal candidate will be a proactive self-starter who takes initiative and drives resultsThe candidate will be responsible for providing quality assurance review, analysis, and feedback on 911 calls for the Public Safety Answering Points (PSAP’s) within El Paso and Teller Counties. 

 

What You Will Do: 

 

  • Conduct case reviews of calls for certified users at PSAPs to monitor compliance with the Medical, Fire, and Police Protocol standards 
  • Participate in Calibration cases to ensure consistency throughout the Q.A. Team at the Authority. 
  • Attend Dispatch Review Committee (DRC) and Dispatch Steering Committee (DSC) meetings to share and acquire information on police, fire, and medical training needs and effectiveness. 
  • Perform periodic visits to PSAPs to allow users to ask questions about the programs. 
  • Serve as a liaison between the Authority and PSAP personnel. 
  • Attend and participate in national professional groups, meetings, and conferences to remain current on current trends and information relating to dispatch programs and training. 
  • Maintain competency in currently used protocol software and test new software as it becomes available; recommend, implement, and conduct training on new software. 
  • Stay updated on industry trends and new techniques and technologies. 

 

Key Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Qualifications: 

 

  • 911 Call-taking policies and procedures for police, fire, and medical.  
  • Principles and practices of the International Academy of Emergency Dispatch (IAED) medical, fire, and police protocols.  
  • Creating and maintaining databases and generating reports. 
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, MS Project, and Outlook. 
  • Coordinate and operate effective quality assurance and quality improvement programs. 
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. 
  • Ability to deal effectively with various individuals under stressful situations and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.  

 

Education:  

 

One (1) year of coursework from an accredited college or university focusing on education, communication, management, business management, or another related field is required.   

 

Education and Experience Equivalency:  

One year of relevant work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.  

 

Experience:  

At least 3 years working in a public safety emergency communications center (PSAP) using the current IAED protocol system or a related field. 

 

Certifications and Licenses:  

Must possess or be able to acquire the following certifications and/or licenses. 

 

  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Q.A. certification in EMD, EFD, and EPD within 3 months of date of hire is required. 
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a nationally recognized Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification within 3 months of date of hire is required. 

 

Specialized Computer Equipment and Software 

ProQA, Microsoft Office Suite, Aqua, Equature, YouTube, Facebook, Canva and other creative design and educational software. 

 

Requirements: 

Must pass a driving record (M.V.R), drug screen, reference, and criminal history background check before starting employment.
