- Residential Aide (RA) Job description
The Ranch looks for people in recovery or have personal experience with others in recovery. We look for staff who are comfortable leading others through life in early recovery. To be a part of their recovery and be a mentor and peer, while maintaining careful and considerate boundaries. We hire LADC, LCSW, CADC, recovery coaches, or in-school students studying to be human service workers.

- El Rancho de la Vida (Andersson Ranch) is a non-profit DHHS licensed SUD residential treatment center and MARR certified Level IV recovery residence, which is Maine-Care billable recovery house for men, women and couples.
- PM RA/staff Job description entails being available for our residents from 3pm-11pm Monday- Fridays while they settle into evening activities which may include dinner prep. Position includes observing and advising residents medication intake, in an individual way, maintaining confidentiality, safety and alcohol and let us not forget co-occurring disorders like mental health, physical health and emotional wellbeing.
- The PM counselor/staff will conduct UDS (Urine drug screens) and breathalyzer randomly and document all findings on proper forms and update the UDS calendar. Additional UDS training is available on request.
- Counselors/PM staff will be advised that anything can happen in a residential setting. You are responsible for overall safety and sobriety in the milieu. Narcan training is required, and crisis is a part of the job. You will also be responsible to facilitate and/or fill in occasionally, with 1-hour groups per week. Creative approaches to group work are always helpful as well.
- You will be responsible to document groups and house notes/Shift notes. You will also be responsible for assisting and driving residents to AA/NA meetings Monday and Thursday and Saturday evenings at 7pm. First aid training and all other training related to this position will be paid for, and all certifications and CEUs will be up to date. You will work closely with the program manager and your Clinical Supervisor to ensure your non-clinical and/or clinical welfare and licensure.
- You must have a Valid driver’s license and the ability to ensure safe trips to AA, shopping trips, and other outdoor activities throughout the year.
- Our RA/PM staff will provide high quality, compassionate care through various mediums which include both individual and group counseling sessions. The Substance Abuse Counselor/PM staff will plan, oversee, facilitate and document their patient's recovery as well as provide leadership and guidance for the activities of all residents and work alongside the director, Program manager, staff and operations director.
- You will answer directly to our Program manager and then to The Director. Your clinical supervisor will oversee all functions of your clinical or nonclinical issues to your pathway. You will utilize your clinical supervisor for all clinical/non clinical education and therapeutic solutions at least 4 hours per month at scheduled appointments that you both agree on. Clinical supervision is a huge part of your position here- You will be seeing CCS once a week for guidance and support. You work alone But you are never alone.
- Ranch RA/staff will help with cooking, keeping track of resident status and curfew times. You may be doing groups outside by the fire pit or in our TV room, outside deck or walking the trails. Must be flexible and confident as you will be the person in charge of all areas of our recovery home while on Ranch RA/staff will be responsible for all functions of evening activities which will include observing and initiating emergency procedures and being aware of and acting on all safety procedures.
If you are a Clinical person; Your Responsibilities as a Substance use disorder Counselor:
- Conduct individual counseling sessions, under supervision, as scheduled and
documents as required.
- Conduct group and/or family sessions, under supervision, as scheduled and
documents as required. May co-facilitate assigned group or family sessions.
- Responsible for reading and understanding initial assessments, as well as follow
up assessments as their recovery moves forward.
- Write and initiate individual treatment plans for each resident every 30 days. Ensure all documentation regarding patient care, treatment and incidents is
completed timely and in a clear, concise manner.
May act as a liaison between referral sources and our residents
- Provide crisis intervention to residents. Will help plan for aftercare and advice for permanent housing and care as needed. . May provide case management duties for residents, ensuring individualized quality care;
Evaluate residents' needs and determine if referrals to other programs or facilities are needed. Perform other duties as assigned. shift.
