Job Summary:
The Manager of Special Events and Site Rentals will create and supervise engaging programs and festivals while working collaboratively with all departments.
Reporting to the Director of Advancement, the Manager of Special Events and Site Rentals will oversee the successful planning and execution of all Museum Festivals while working closely with other staff. Additionally, this position is responsible for booking and managing museum site rentals, including weddings, corporate events, and film productions and serving as the onsite point of contact during these events.
The successful candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team, be detail-oriented, and have excellent writing and communication skills.
Duties/Essential Functions:
Programs and Festivals
· Plan and coordinate the execution of all festivals
· Negotiate and contract bands, and other entertainment for events
· Secure proper County and City permitting
· Contract and be the point of contact for security at events
· Review and analyze outcomes to modify festivals as necessary to be successful
· Collaborate with the Marketing Manager, provide images and text for ads
· Work with Vendor Coordinator to secure vendors and artisans for festivals
· Work with Director of Education to secure historic demonstrators and educational programming for festivals
· Work with executive staff to create and maintain annual event budget and monitor spending
· Other duties as assigned
Site Rentals
· Oversee site rentals for special events, weddings, and films
· Secure rental contracts
· Secure proper County and City permitting
· Contract and be the point of contact for security at events
· Develop procedures and forms as necessary to improve site rentals
· Actively promote the Museum as a site rental venue at meetings, bridal fairs, trade shows, movie industry meetups and other outreach venues.
· Review and edit contracts and procedures as necessary
Qualifications:
Required
· Undergraduate degree or equivalent
· Willingness to learn Museum best practices and standards
· Excellent written, organizational, and interpersonal skills
· Attention to detail
· Supervisory experience
· Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work with and engage the public
· Strong negotiation and sales skills
· Ability to be diplomatic and aware of appropriate workplace interaction
· Thorough understanding of sensitivity to all guests, volunteers, and staff
· Awareness and sensitivity to local cultures
Preferred
· Undergraduate degree in Business, Hospitality, Museum Studies or other relevant course of study
· Three to five years of experience as a Special Events Planner
· Experience in evaluating special programs
· Familiarity with New Mexico history or willingness to learn
· Bilingual: English/Spanish

· Ability to comply with and adhere to all internal procedures, processes, and policies, as well as Las Golondrinas’ core values and mission
· Able to work a non-traditional schedule, including weekends, evenings, and nights.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
