What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2nd shift Production Supervisor/Bindery Operator position at Elanders Americas?
Position Summary
We are seeking a 2nd shift (2:00pm - 10:30pm) Working Supervisor/Bindery Operator who is responsible for a combination of work performed in the Bindery Department, including operating the cutter, folder, stitcher, booklet maker and PUR binder AND effectively supervise 2nd shift employees.

Report any concerns to ensure that both technical and workflow issues are addressed and optimized.
Able to trouble-shoot and problem solve on difficult projects.
Ensures that folding equipment is optimized and operating within required standards in terms of process controls, planned maintenance schedules, make ready and running standards.
Able to read and interpret information from the bindery paperwork/job jacket.
Achieves competency and meets standards for make-ready and run times as established by the company.
Communicates with Bindery Manager on validity of standards and expectations from the project plan.
Able to produce work following Quality Controls and Process Controls, to produce high quality work in the allotted time frames.
Responsibly and accurately records productivity & performance for evaluation against expectations of the plan.
Operates other bindery equipment when necessary to maintain the flexibility of the bindery department.
Recommends equipment repairs, parts and supplies as needed.
Coordinates pass-off of information between adjacent shifts, with the goal of minimizing downtime and increasing productivity through information sharing.
Informs Bindery Manager of any immediate concerns related to the successful operation of the department.
Contributes/attends regular production meetings when required.
Participates in specific continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensures that their work area and the rest of the bindery remain clean and tidy.
Complies with all safety and health policies, procedures and practices; actively supports safety improvement initiatives; uses materials and equipment in an appropriate and safe manner; carries out all tasks in a manner so as to not create a hazard to oneself or others.
Supports organizational goals and values.
