GNETS Behavior Specialist & Site Coordinator

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and benefits shall be paid according to system’s approved salary schedule.
Length of work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the system.
All full-time employees (at least 24 hours per week on a continuing basis and employment must be expected to last at least nine months) are eligible for health insurance.
All teachers employed in professionally certificated capacity, provided he or she works half -time or more (but not less than 18 hours a week) and is not considered a temporary employee, emergency employee, or retired employee are eligible for health insurance.
Any non-Teacher Retirement System (TRS) eligible employee will have a FICA deduction.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid professional certificate in appropriate grade levels for the assignment issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission
An advanced degree in School Psychology, Special Education, or a related field is preferred
A minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience is required. An emphasis on behavior disorders and curriculum/instruction is strongly preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Comprehensive knowledge of behavior assessment and/or school psychology. Knowledge of Federal and state laws, system procedures, and guidelines relating to program implementation. Ability to conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations and provide recommendations for intervention based on presenting data. Ability to function as a team member and to interact effectively with students, parents, teachers, and school personnel. Ability to maintain accurate records and manage time efficiently. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to develop functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans for individual students. Ability to carry out student de-escalation and restraint procedures according to federal guidelines
JOB GOAL:
To provide a comprehensive program of behavioral services to assist administrators and
teachers to best serve the students in the GNETS setting while equipping teachers with tools and strategies to provide replacement behaviors.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Collect and analyze individual, class, and schoolwide behavior data at the secondary level.
Coordinates and conducts Functional Behavior Assessments and consults/collaborates with team members and other specialists as part of a comprehensive evaluation.
Develop behavioral goals with school personnel and the student support team.
Coach the school system and the GNETs program staff on methods for effectively teaching and working with behaviorally or emotionally disturbed students.
Train new staff on target behaviors, GNETs procedures, and LRE.
Screen and identify students eligible for services through the Lighthouse.
Assist the GNETs program and service school systems in developing interventions, functional behavior assessments (FBA) and behavior intervention plans (BIP) for the purpose of providing a safe and effective educational environment for students with challenging behaviors.
Conducts ongoing teacher training related to the administration of behavioral assessments.
Assist faculty and staff in handling student crisis situations.
Assist the GNETS program and school with reintegrating students into the LRE.
Prepares and submits reports in a timely manner related to the student support team.
Maintains required documentation for annual reports.
Maintains confidentiality of student data and assessment results.
Submits reports, evaluations and behavioral assessment protocols in an organized and timely manner as directed.
Communicate and share reports/paperwork before meetings so that all parties can be prepared for meetings and discussions
Attends eligibility and initial placement Individual Education Program (IEP) meetings as requested, when pertaining to behavior
Considers all relevant data, including private evaluations, as part of student information for the complete evaluation process.
Provides consultation with teachers and parents regarding test interpretation, behavior management, etc.
Attends and participates in district-level team meetings as requested.
Conducts classroom observations to assist with data/evidence-based decisions relating to academic and/or behavioral interventions and services.
Promotes collaboration with families among school-based personnel. Supports parent involvement in behavioral growth through teacher coaching and school support team involvement.
Maintains valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credential as may be required for this position.
Participate in training to increase skills and proficiency related to the assignment.
Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable and punctual manner.
Oversee the development of research-based behavior supports through Behavior Intervention Plans.
Deliver training/coaching support for implementing Behavior Intervention Plans.
Design progress monitoring tools to analyze student growth/improvement.
Maintains confidentiality of sensitive and privileged information.
Review current developments, literature, and technical sources of information related to the job responsibility.
Performs other tasks/duties consistent with goals and objectives that support the vision and mission of the Elbert County School System.
Constant or consistent ability to supervise and manage students and staff.
Meets the certification requirements of the school system
Ability to be present at the physical work site
Attend the Lighthouse meetings for the behavior specialist and the site coordinator
Regularly, predictably, and reliably at work
Perform other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force as needed to move objects.
