Position Summary: A PK-12 teacher is responsible for creating a supportive and engaging learning environment that fosters the academic, emotional, and social development of students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. Teachers develop and implement lesson plans that adhere to curriculum standards, assess student progress, and adapt instructional methods to meet the diverse needs of all learners. The role involves collaboration with colleagues, communication with parents or guardians, and ongoing professional development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Planning and Instruction:
- Design and deliver engaging lessons that align with district, state, and federal curriculum standards.
- Use a variety of instructional methods, including lectures, discussions, hands-on activities, and technology, to accommodate different learning styles.
- Integrate critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity into lessons to enhance student learning.
- Classroom Management:
- Establish and maintain a positive, organized, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Implement effective classroom management techniques to encourage respect, discipline, and engagement.
- Address and resolve any behavioral issues following school policies.
- Ability to effectively supervise students
- Student Assessment and Progress Monitoring:
- Develop assessments (quizzes, tests, projects, etc.) to measure students' understanding and progress.
- Regularly evaluate and report student performance, identifying areas where additional support or enrichment may be needed.
- Use data from assessments to inform instructional adjustments and differentiated instruction.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work with other teachers, administrators, and staff to enhance the overall educational experience.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress, achievements, and any concerns.
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and other collaborative initiatives.
- Professional Development:
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with educational trends, technologies, and best practices.
- Reflect on teaching practices and incorporate new strategies to improve student outcomes.
- Student Support and Advocacy:
- Recognize and address the academic and emotional needs of students.
- Provide guidance, encouragement, and support to promote student well-being and growth.
- Refer students to appropriate support services when necessary.
- Motivating and and inspiring students to their full potential
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (Master’s preferred for upper-grade levels).
- State teaching certification or licensure for the relevant grade level(s).
- Strong knowledge of subject matter and pedagogy.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with technology and online learning platforms.
- Familiarity with differentiated instruction and inclusive education strategies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability in a dynamic educational environment.
- Ability to regularly, reliably, and consistently be present in person at work
Work Environment: Teachers work primarily in classroom settings within a school. The role may require additional hours for planning, grading, and participating in school-related events or activities.
