About This Career Opportunity
The Sales Counselor is responsible for successful execution of sales to meet or exceed all sales and occupancy goals. Additionally, the Sales Counselor is responsible for driving traffic to the community through referral development, networking, and events. The Sales Counselor is responsible for representing the community to prospective residents. The Counselor manages the occupancy process from the first inquiry to the receipt of deposit to move-in with respect to the representation, negotiation, and promotion of the community to that individual.
The Sales Counselor also joins networking groups and seeks opportunities to present and host events in the local market to create a strong presence for the community.
Responsibilities
- Develop relationships with all prospects and their families, manages visits/tours for interested inquiries. Works with prospective residents, family members and key influencers (physician, attorney, trust officer, as appropriate) to facilitate a timely and beneficial commitment to the community.
- Maintains relationships with future residents through timely follow up. Promotes the occupancy process through ongoing contact with a prospective resident via telephone, personal visits, tours, and home visit activities as appropriate.
- Manages all information relating to the prospective resident/inquiry: communication with administration, communication with direct supervisor, and accurate documentation of all contact. Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent residents’ information to assure all rights are protected. Follows the move in protocols and assembles and maintains the resident paperwork in proper order.
- Effectively communicates with all the community stakeholders during the move in process. Ensures that the move in is a smooth process for the new residents and their family.
- Manages the occupancy process from first inquiry to receipt of deposit to move-in with respect to the representation, negotiation, and promotion of the community to that individual.
- Manages the database management system in such a way that information is thorough and complete and follows prescribed process.
- Represents and promotes the community to the larger community through special promotional events, prospective resident seminars, distribution of materials, and presentations. Participates in the development of special events on-site.
- Develops a working Circle of Influence of referral sources who will refer to the community on a regular basis.
- Provides the Executive Director with marketing planning information about opportunities or challenges to be used in the development of strategies for maintaining optimal occupancy levels.
- Fully understand and articulately represents all documents related to residency, including RA, DS, etc.
- Staff at the office during established hours of operation, which may include evenings and weekends.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Position Requirements
- At least 18 years of age.
- Cleared Criminal Record clearance through the Department of Social Services prior to presence in the community.
- Health screening and TB test results not older than 6 months.
- Current First Aid Training and Certifications as per Title 22.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business or related field or a minimum of three years’ experience in the human services field specifically in the programs and services for older people is preferred.
- Education in business, marketing, or public relations required. At least two years in comparable marketing and sales experience.
- Working knowledge of regulatory guidelines for Residential Facilities. Proven sales experience in the service industry.
- Ability to create balanced sales calls and set next steps.
- Refined computer skills with experience using Word and Excel. Experience with contact database management.

- Knowledge about dementia highly desirable.
