Lumber Yard | Load Builder

Job Description

Job Summary:

The Yard Worker position is responsible for loading and unloading trucks, putting away materials and waiting on customers.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Safely operates forklift and other material handling equipment to pick, load, unload and move materials in the yard.
• Wrapping, stacking, sorting and banding lumber.
• Responsible for accuracy in loading lumber and other materials into or onto vehicles, trucks, lumber racks, and/or trailers making sure the quantity and product is correct.
• Handle lumber, plywood, and other building materials as needed to place material in stock and straighten stock.
• Maintain inventory in yard and keep things organized.
• Maintains the cleanliness and appearance of the yard by keeping ground free of clutter including bands, chocks, and trash.
• Inspects forklifts daily.
• Wears proper PPE at all times.
• Other tasks as assigned.
  
  

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Strong organizational skills.
• Persistence and perseverance to meet goals.
• Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required.
• Ability to read a tape measure.
  
  

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma/GED
• Forklift experience preferred
  
  

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to bend, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, sit, stoop, kneel and crouch.
• Ability to lift and/or move between 50 – 100 lbs.
• Exposure to the elements – heat, cold, rain, wind and snow.
