Position Overview
Electra.aero, a next-gen aerospace technology company, seeks a dynamic and energetic Aerospace/Aircraft Manufacturing Engineerto influence the design of new aircraft products to assure their effective and efficient manufacturability, and to design and lead the implementation of the associated preproduction and production manufacturing processes of the new products. This role reports to the Manufacturing and Supply Chain leader.
Responsibilities & Essential Functions
Our salary ranges reflect the minimum and maximum range for the Company level overall across all locations & projects and does not necessarily reflect the budgeted amount for this position. Individual pay is based on additional factors, including project budgets, job-related skills, experience, relevant education and/or training, role, level, location, and project.

Working Conditions
Work is typically performed in a warehouse/aviation and office environment, which requires proper safety precautions. Due to the nature of our business and projects, some fieldwork may be required, working in both indoor and outdoor conditions. You may need to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities & Essential Functions
- Responsible for influencing all aspects of the new product design to assure the efficient and effective manufacturability of the new aircraft products. This will include the products’ requirements, architectures, BOM, design, analysis, build, test, cost, schedule, risk, team, suppliers, etc.) with strong quality and cost performance
- Conduct trade studies and design manufacturing processes’ architectures and concepts appropriate to aircraft preproduction and production
- Participate in the selection and management of manufacturing suppliers/partners. This will include an appropriate degree of travel as needed to be effective
- Participate in the evolution of the Electra ERP/MRP system to assure the system meets the needs of manufacturing, customers, and regulators, e.g., material control, kitting, work orders, process controls, etc
- Collaborate closely with program management, other IPTs, and functional groups to accomplish team goals
- BS degree in an appropriate engineering discipline
- 5 years of directly applicable experience
- A strong work ethic and ability to influence design, prototype, preproduction, and production manufacturing efforts
- Experienced in FAA/EASA certified aircraft manufacturing as per Part 21 subpart G. Experienced in AS9100D manufacturing process compliance
- Experienced with management of non-conforming processes and materials
- Comfortable with commercial quality CAD packages (i.e. NX/CATIA), and MS Suite tools.
- Experienced with precision aircraft subsystem and system manufacturing and integration with many structural components made from a variety of materials, including carbon fiber, kevlar, fiberglass, foam, balsa, mylar, aluminum, Ti, etc
- Development and execution of tests to confirm the function and quality of new manufacturing processes. Experienced with 3P processes desired
- Pre-preg and wet-layup composites molding and vacuum-bagging experience desired. Aluminum airframe fabrication and assembly experience desired
- Ability to budget and schedule manufacturing activities as appropriate and update those estimates as a program matures
- Must be able to lift at least 25lb
- Headquarters in Manassas, VA.To encourage close collaboration, it is preferred this position is 4-5 days in the office with some virtual work allowed.Occasional travel expected (10% )
