What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Estimator position at Electrical Contractor?
New Jersey Electrical Contractor Seeking Qualified Estimator
Responsibilities Include:
- Review and interpret construction documents on paper and electronically on screen
- Attend prebid site visits to review existing conditions and scope of work
- Provide a detailed takeoff from blueprints on LABOR, MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT (associated with the specific project)
- Send out packages for quoting (Switchgear, Lighting, Fire Alarm, Intercom, Security, Etc.)
- Create accurate/comprehensive cost estimates and clearly written proposals
- Review contract and scope of work upon award of new projects
- Upon award, must be able to provide Project Manager a detailed cost estimate; this includes:
- Material breakdown and take off
- Cost used for material
- Total labor estimated into into the job (including labor rate used for bid)
- All material quotes / packages (switchgear, lighting, fire alarm, low voltage etc)
- Full estimate for PM to use during course of construction
- Work closely with Foreman and PM for project change orders
- Be able to review amended and provide cost impacts
- Maintain good client relationships and follow up bids post submission
- Communication with suppliers and customers
Requirements:
- Primary area of work is NEW JERSEY
- Ability to read plans and specifications
- Must be willing to travel to jobsite to review conditions prebid
- Must be willing to travel to jobsite upon award to review change orders as needed
- Strong computerized estimating skills, detail oriented with a strong focus and ability to multi task
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel and Adobe
- Must be able to use Accubid Estimating Software
- Minimum 10 years experience as an Electrical Estimator
- Must have knowledge of National Electric Codes (NEC) and local New Jersey Codes/Laws
- Familiarity with the New Jersey market (and the labor rates to reflect job)
- Ability to establish new contacts and maintain any current contacts
