The primary function of Electrical Power and Controls, Inc.’s Shop Manager/Expediter is to ensure the smooth operation of the shop area, equipment maintenance, and transportation of supplies to projects.
The Shop Manager/Expediter ensures the smooth and efficient operation of the company by ensuring that equipment is maintained, the supplies, tools, and equipment needed for projects are procured, tracked, and transported to projects as needed.
Knowledge of electrical equipment, supplies, and tools
Mechanical skill requirements include the ability to use and understand the mechanics of equipment utilized in the industry, simple office machinery such as copiers, fax machines, and communication devices.
"Common Sense” is a necessary skill. The job requires the ability to handle numerous tasks simultaneously and the ability to sort priorities appropriately.
Ability to progressively enhance management skills, including: constructive feedback; maintaining control; self-assessment and development; thinking creatively; solving problems and making decisions; negotiating; improving communication skills; effective written communication; and understanding business economics and procurement.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Authority and Responsibilities:
The Shop Manager/Expediter has the authority necessary to conduct and manage all affairs of the company.
The authority includes:
To track company tools, equipment, and vehicles; and to procure equipment, tools, and supplies; and to assist in establishing shop and equipment guidelines, policies, and procedures to be followed by all personnel and to ensure that these policies and procedures are adhered to; and to take any reasonable action necessary to carry out the responsibilities of the position so long as such action does not deviate from the established company policies and is consistent with sound business judgement.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS and REQUIREMENTS:
*Job requires working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain, snow.
* Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, and gloves always), respirator when required.
* Able to work 8-10 hours per day, 40 hours per week, overtime,.
* Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, including crawling, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, reaching, able to routinely lift heavy objects in excess of 50 pounds and pushing and pulling of objects is required.
* Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
* Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job.
