About the Role:

As a Production Manager, you will plan, direct, and coordinate production operations with a strong focus on safety, employee development, and process optimization. You’ll take ownership of all production activities and ensure that customer, employee, and company expectations are met. This role demands twenty-four-hour accountability, making you a key player in driving the success of our operations.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Safety Leadership:

  • Lead by example and foster a safety-first culture.
  • Coordinate employee safety training in collaboration with HR, including OSHA-required training.
  • Hold Safety Coordinators accountable for continuous improvement in safety processes.
  • Ensure the safety of everyone in the manufacturing areas.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance and Engineering to ensure the safe startup of new equipment.

2. Production Management:

  • Oversee production activities to maximize customer service and minimize WIP inventory.
  • Monitor people and machine capacity relative to demand.
  • Recommend equipment replacement or upgrades as needed.
  • Maintain process capability and enforce adherence to standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in daily Customer Service Meetings to provide updates on production status.
  • Set departmental metrics and ensure goals are met.

3. Process Improvement:

  • Support Quality with production nonconformance issues and corrective actions.
  • Lead lean initiatives to enhance cost-effective production.
  • Plan and recommend system upgrades to maximize operational efficiency.

4. Employee Management:

  • Maintain personnel and payroll records for direct reports.
  • Approve and submit payroll weekly for your team.
  • Coach and develop employees to increase their effectiveness and performance.

  • Communicate proactively if challenges arise or if improvements can be made.
  • Seek managerial support when needed to perform at your best.


Managerial Leadership Practices:

  • Hold regular meetings to ensure your team understands their role and how it aligns with the company’s mission.
  • Develop and implement departmental plans to achieve goals.
  • Assign tasks clearly and evaluate performance regularly.
  • Select, orient, and train new employees effectively, ensuring alignment with company culture and goals.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Computer literacy is a must.


Mandatory Role Requirements:

1. Knowledge/Education/Certification: Requires a high school diploma, specialized training, or a two-year degree.

2. Experience: 5 to 10 years of experience in a similar role.

3. Role Complexity: Highly complex planning and judgment, requiring independent decision-making.

4. Foresight/Planning: Significant impact on processes, cost control, and overall efficiency.

5. Problem Analysis: Ability to develop procedures and solve operating problems.

6. Decision Making: Provides advice and recommendations to senior management, implements procedures, and oversees results.

7. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills required for internal and external interactions.

8. Supervision: Directs over 10 employees, ensuring proper discipline and training.

9. Responsibility for Assets: Responsible for budgets up to $100,000, with high accountability for materials and cost control.

10. Responsibility for Systems: Proficiency in relevant technical systems like Paradigm, Docstar, and Epicor.

11. Confidentiality: Handles sensitive personnel, financial, and business information regularly.

12. Hazards & Working Conditions: Low to moderate risk for minor injuries.

13. Mental & Physical Demands: Requires sustained physical exertion and quick decision-making.
