The Educational Technology Specialist will work closely with faculty, staff, and students to ensure proficiency in these tools, provide troubleshooting support, and drive the adoption of innovative teaching practices.
Canvas LMS Administration and Support
- Serve as the primary administrator for Canvas, providing faculty and staff with training, troubleshooting, and ongoing support.
- Collaborate with instructional designers and faculty to develop and maintain online courses and course materials.
- Conduct workshops and create resources to support faculty in using Canvas effectively for teaching and assessments.
- Monitor and report on Canvas usage and adoption, suggesting improvements and customizations to enhance user experience.
- Support the integration of Jenzabar with Canvas and other educational tools to ensure seamless user experiences.
- Assist the academic and administrative staff in utilizing Jenzabar for student records, reporting, and data management.
- Provide technical support, training, and troubleshooting for Jenzabar issues, collaborating with IT as needed to ensure consistent system performance.
- Analyze Jenzabar data and provide insights to aid academic decision-making and improve operational processes.
- Design and lead training sessions, workshops, and seminars for faculty, staff, and students on educational technology tools and best practices.
- Create user guides, video tutorials, and other resources to support technology adoption and effective usage.
- Collaborate with departments to identify specific educational technology needs and recommend solutions.
- Remain up-to-date with current trends in educational technology to recommend and implement innovative teaching strategies.
- Manage projects related to the implementation or improvement of instructional technology initiatives, ensuring timely and efficient completion.
- Collaborate with IT, instructional design, and academic teams to integrate new tools and technologies with existing systems.
- Serve as a liaison between academic departments, IT, and other administrative units to address and resolve issues related to educational technology.
- Bachelor’s degree in Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- 2 years of experience supporting or administering an LMS (Canvas experience highly preferred) and ERP systems (Jenzabar preferred).
- Strong understanding of educational technology best practices and trends in higher education.
- Proven experience in providing training, troubleshooting, and support to diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, project management, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with multimedia tools for creating instructional content (e.g., video editing, screen casting software).
- Familiarity with data analytics and reporting tools.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices in online education.
