- Assess the patient’s functional status (muscle function, endurance, visual coordination, communication skills, self-care, work capacity, etc.).
- Collaborate in developing a comprehensive care plan.
- Design a treatment program with goals for improved function and communicate the plan to the referring physician and other team members.
- Teach or retrain patients in daily activities lost due to illness or injury, following company policies.
- Fabricate splints and instruct patients on using adaptive equipment to enhance function.
- Provide training in the use of prosthetic and/or orthotic devices.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and report any changes in the patient’s condition to the physician.
- Identify patient and family/caregiver needs for additional services and make appropriate referrals.
- Educate patients’ families/caregivers and other team members on the patient’s treatment plan.
- Supervise certified occupational therapy assistants in accordance with organization policies and state regulations.
- Participate in discharge planning.
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program recognized by the American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association.
- Registered with the National Registration Examination of the American Occupational Therapy Association.
- Licensed to practice as an OT in Florida.
- Minimum of two years of clinical experience as an occupational therapist.
- Current BLS Certification.
- Strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
