Accountant

Job Summary: The Accountant holds a range of responsibilities related to financial record-keeping, data analysis, and administrative tasks to the commercial and subsidized housing properties and other companies.

Duties

• Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff, including Senior Accounting and other clerks. Help in their training and development.
• Ensures compliance with accounting policies and procedures, as well relevant financial regulations.
• Analyzes intercompany management fees for commercial properties. Accesses reports and records fees accordingly.
• Assists with internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and explanations.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Controller and/or Assistant Controller
• Prepares, posts, verifies, and records tenant payments and transactions in Yardi. Performs day to day financial transactions including verifying, classifying, computing, posting, and recording of Accounts Receivable data
• Reviews bank statements against general ledger postings making corrections and/or adjustments in reconciling discrepancies. Maintains accounting ledgers by verifying and posting transactions. Verifies accounting ledgers by reconciling monthly statements.
• Reconciles processed work by verifying entities and company Yardi reports to balances. Deposits checks through remote deposit capture (RDC). Ensures the proper processing of subsidy accounts and incoming payments are following internal operating policies.
• Charges expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoices and expense reports recording entries.

Requirements

• Proficiency in all Microsoft applications including an intermediate level of proficiency in word and excel.
• A minimum of 4 years’ experience of proven A/R, A/P, and/or bookkeeping experience in an Accounting Department, preferably in the field of Real Estate Property Management.
• Experience with Yardi Voyager is a bonus!
• Attention to detail and proficient in mathematics.
• Associate and/or bachelor’s degree in related field preferred but not necessary.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with exemplary negotiation skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
