Material Handler

JOB DESCRIPTION

Transport material on company premises by means of a forklift, keep pad area clean and orderly for material use. Operate various material handling equipment to insure the safe, efficient and smooth flow of materials. Complete quality paperwork and job production sheets as required. Complete the daily forklift operator’s inspection checklist

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Perform daily inspections for of forklifts, scales, processes, etc. as required specifications

2. Validate weights, lot sizes, etc. to ensure correct material is used

3. Transport lots/bins of material to staging area

4. Complete all paperwork as required for product documentation

5. Following established guidelines and customer requirements

6. Works closely with GE employees as required to ensue processes, procedures and inspections are being followed.

7. Communicates regularly with lead/supervisors to identify product or process issues

8. Assist in the development and documentation of standard operating procedures

9. Maintain good housekeeping and orderly condition of work area

10. Comply with all written safety procedures, and work in a safe manner to insure not only personal safety, but the safety of all others

11. Follow all company procedures related to assigned equipment and job

12. Perform other tasks as directed by lead/supervisor

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This is a hands-on position and will work in a factory setting. Factory requires use of PPE (safety glasses/safety shoes/earplugs, or other) and environmental conditions vary. The employee may occasionally be exposed to dust/airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, moving PIT vehicles and vibration as it is necessary to walk the production area.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. May be required to move pieces under 50 pounds to inspect, and move pallets or cartons with manual material handling equipment.
