The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of optical products and services or have an ability to learn quickly. Duties

• Assist customers in selecting eyeglasses and contact lenses based on their prescriptions and personal preferences.
• Provide detailed information about lens options, coatings, and frame styles to enhance customer understanding.
• Perform fittings and adjustments of eyewear to ensure proper fit and comfort.
• Maintain knowledge of current optical trends, products, and technologies to provide informed recommendations, especially specialty lenses.
• Collaborate with ophthalmologists and optometrists to ensure seamless patient care.
• Manage inventory of optical products, including ordering and restocking as necessary (frames and contact lenses).
• Adhere to HIPAA regulations while handling patient information and records.
• Conduct frame repairs and adjustments.
• Ensure patients are properly educated regarding their visual needs and available lens and frame options, including how to care for their glasses or contacts.
• Stay current on pricing and communicating to patients, managing costs of goods.
• Understand and utilize eyeglass-related insurance and coding for patient orders with vision specific insurance and process accordingly.
• Cleans and maintains frame inventory.
• Contribute efforts to keep dispensary neat and clean.
• Maintain neat and workable space in optical workstation.
• Inspects all eyewear products upon receipt from vendor to ensure quality standards and notify patient within 6 business hours from receipt.
• Notify patients within 6 business hours that glasses / contact lenses have arrived. Follow up within 2-3 weeks if glasses / contact lenses have not been picked up.
• Ensure dispense within 3 months.
• Answer phones, patient scheduling, and patient care as part of the front team.
• Provide back up coverage for front desk.
• Perform CL new fit instructions per physician order.
• Manage optical email inbox.
• Primary manager of all communications related to Optical and Contact Lenses, including scheduling and inquiries.
• Process frame and CL returns.
• Process contact lens RETURNS within one month.
• Run metrics monthly on job status and respond to issues noted.

Experience
Candidates should have experience or knowledge in the following areas:

• Physiology knowledge related to vision care.
• Understanding of optical principles and eye care practices.
• Preferred experience in retail sales or direct customer service roles.
• Familiarity with laboratory processes related to eyewear production.
• Knowledge of senior care considerations when assisting elderly clients.
• Proficiency in using electronic health record systems.
• Strong understanding of anatomy related to the eye is beneficial.
• No formal education is required, but high school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Basic ability to type and use computer software, phones
• Detail oriented
• Legal to work in the US
• Has never been convicted of a felony
• Team player with strong interpersonal skills and strong communication skills
• Strong time management, punctual, organized, and prioritizes duties well
• Strong fingers

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 - $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 32 per week
