Shift/Schedule: 8-6 (or until last patient leaves) M-Th

Position Summary: This position is for a full-time optician in a moderately busy optometry practice. Optical training is preferred, but not required. Willing to train a candidate eager to learn. In addition to attentiveness this role also requires sharp communication skills, a positive and helpful attitude, and is heavy in teamwork. Ability to work with both paper and digital patient records needed as the office is currently transitioning from paper records to electronic medical records.
Duties (including but not limited to):
Provide Patient-focused care:
- Educate patients on frame/lens options and pro’s/con’s associated with each
- Patient frame selection, obtain required optical measurements
- Eyeglass and contact lens dispensing, spectacle adjustments and repairs
- Reading and understanding patient insurance benefits
- Aiding patients in choosing appropriate frame/lens options
- Contact Lens application and removal training
- Trouble-shooting with spectacle orders/fittings
Orders
- Input and manage optical orders
- Verify incoming spectacle/CL orders for accuracy/Rx
- Text/Call patients for order arrival
- Tracking optical orders
- Maintain a clean and organized Optical (front and back office)
Aid team members in general office tasks such as:
- Answering phones, scheduling patients, checking patients in/out, collecting payments
- Filing, faxing, referral paperwork, tidying/cleaning common areas, etc.
