Position Type: Full-time - 10.5 Month Contract
Salary: $17.00-20.00 with benefits

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to support the daily operations of Perkins County Elementary School, an elementary school dedicated to providing a positive and nurturing learning environment for students. The Administrative Assistant will play a key role in facilitating smooth administrative processes, assisting faculty and staff, and ensuring effective communication within the school community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administrative Support:
- Provide general clerical support to the principal, staff, and faculty.
- Manage and organize school records, student files, and confidential documents.
- Assist in preparing reports, correspondence, and other documents as needed.
- Answer and direct phone calls, handle inquiries and communicate with parents, teachers, and staff.
- Student and Parent Interaction:
- Greet students, parents, and visitors, ensuring a positive and welcoming atmosphere.
- Manage student attendance, including tracking absences, tardies, and early departures.
- Communicate with parents regarding student-related matters (attendance, events, etc.).
- Assist with enrollment, student registration, and related paperwork.
- Office Operations:
- Maintain office supplies and ensure that the school’s inventory is stocked.
- Manage the scheduling of meetings, appointments, and events for school leadership.
- Prepare and distribute newsletters, announcements, and other school communications.
- Assist with organizing school events, field trips, and extracurricular activities.
- Technology and Systems:
- Assist with the use and maintenance of school software for attendance, grading, and student information.
- Support the principal and staff with basic tech troubleshooting.
- Coordination of Services:
- Coordinate the scheduling and communication for substitute teachers.
- Assist with the preparation of classroom materials and supplies.
- Support various school committees and special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or higher preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience in an administrative or office support role, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other office software.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with students, parents, staff, and visitors.
- Familiarity with school systems and basic office equipment (copiers, fax machines, phones, etc.).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry light to moderate office supplies or materials.
- Occasional bending, reaching, and walking around the school grounds.
