Job Description
The Family Guidance Specialist will play a vital role in our team, working closely with youth and families at risk of child abuse and neglect. This challenging yet rewarding position requires a passionate and empathetic individual who can provide guidance, support, and coaching to help families achieve positive change.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing in-home and community-based support and coaching to parents of children and adolescents with severe mental health or behavioral challenges
- Coaching and training parents to address specific needs of the child using evidence-based parenting models
- Supporting guardians as they parent their child or adolescent
- Gathering and analyzing information from parent(s) and team members to develop a service plan that meets the family's needs
- Assisting parents in navigating educational, state, and community resources
- Documenting services rendered in the youth's chart
- Consulting and collaborating with other staff to address meeting service needs of youth
- Participating in Child and Family team meetings when scheduled
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, applicants must possess the following qualifications:
- Be licensed in NJ with 1 year of experience working with youth/families with mental health and behavioral health challenges
- Hold a relevant professional license (LSW, LAC, LAMFT, LCSW, LPC, LMFT)
- Have a valid NJ driver's license with privileges in good standing
