Position Overview:
The Control Room Manager is a pivotal role within our hydropower plant operations team, responsible for overseeing the design, setup, and efficient functioning of a new control room scheduled to begin operations in January 2024. This position involves managing day-to-day activities, coordinating with field teams, standardizing operating procedures, ensuring compliance with public safety regulations, and providing 24/7 on-call support.
Responsibilities:
- Design and set up a new control room facility for hydropower plant operations, ensuring it meets industry standards and safety protocols.
- Oversee day-to-day activities within the control room, including monitoring, coordination, and scheduling of operational tasks.
- Work closely with field teams to standardize operating procedures, ensuring consistency and efficiency in plant operations.
- Coordinate with various teams to facilitate seamless communication and collaboration between the control room and field personnel.
- Coordinate all necessary training and certifications for control room operatives, ensuring they are well-equipped to handle their roles effectively and safely.
- Implement and enforce policies and procedures in accordance with the latest public safety regulations and industry standards.
- Ensure strict adherence to regulatory requirements and monitor ongoing compliance within the control room operations.
- Lead the control room team, establishing a positive and productive work culture focused on safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
- Provide guidance and support to team members, fostering a collaborative and cohesive working environment.
Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of experience in control room management and operations, preferably within the renewable energy sector, with a focus on hydropower.
- Proven experience in building out, setting up, and managing high-pressure control room environments.
- Strong background in remote operations within the power industry, with specific experience in hydropower operations being ideal.
- Demonstrated ability to lead others, establish a positive team culture, and promote a strong work ethic.
- Availability for 24/7 on-call support and willingness to be on-site as required, including during emergencies or critical operational periods.
- In-depth understanding of regulations and public safety procedures related to hydropower operations.
- Willingness to travel to sites as needed throughout the US up to 10% - 20% of the time.
- Ability to develop and roll out standard operating procedures.
