What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimating Manager position at Elevate Structures?
Summary:
The Estimating Manger is directly responsible for the timely and accurate completion of quotes and proposal revisions and provides input into setting market price for commodities for which they oversee across all business units. The manager shall also be responsible to recruit, train and manage the staff, to oversee the effective day to day operation of the department, management of the overall administration, coordination and evaluation of the Estimating function, and to effectively anticipate/respond to changes in the business.
Core Functions:
- Develop, maintain and continuously improve all estimating standards, policies, procedures and tools.
- Understand product offerings and industry standards to be able to provide cost effective value engineering solutions
- Support or lead, if necessary, product specific or project specific conference call or presentation with architect, general contractor, or developer as necessary to assist sales.
- Integrate information from sales and ability to read drawings to effectively model material and labor estimates.
- Maintain accurate pricing models and ensure correct development of quoting for internal sales teams. Understands and interprets market pricing, proposing adjustments in strategy accordingly.
- Develop, publish and meet standard lead times from RFQ to quote and from approval to cut-list/install drawing submission.
- Assign work to the team to balance workload and achieve required lead times.
- Ensure that each estimator within the department prepares accurate, timely estimates and proposals.
- Establish goals and KPI and uses to manage the team’s achievement to improve the customer experience, improve efficiency and to continue to grow the business.
- Train, Monitor and Develop the estimating team to support needs of the business and the individual employee.
- Provide regular, clear feedback on individual performance and develop strategies to continuously improve, implementing performance management actions as required.

Education & Experience:
Minimum Required:
- 5 years' experience in construction estimating or related field
- 2 years' experience in Self Storage Door/Hallway industry
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering or Construction Sciences, or related field.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Work is performed in an office environment. This role will routinely utilize standard office equipment to perform the core functions listed in this job description. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies as well as communicate verbally and electronically. The work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive reading to perform the core functions listed in this job description. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud and in a non-temperature-controlled environment. While performing the core function of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, stand, and to lift to 35 lbs. This position is primarily working around machinery with moving parts, working around moving objects or vehicles. The employee is frequently required to walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach/pull/push/grab with hands and arms, kneel, and crouch, twist and bend. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or crawl.
Occasional travel to customer jobsites may be required for troubleshooting or training. This may involve walking over uneven ground in inclement weather in locations where active construction activities are ongoing.
