What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimator position at Elevate Structures?
The Estimator is responsible for working hand in hand with the Regional Business Development Manager to prepare accurate and timely proposals and revisions for individual projects. The Estimating department is responsible for the timely and accurate completion of proposals, proposal revisions, and pricing-related change orders. The Estimating Department is the central control point for scope of work and margin management, and effective support/consultation with sales in the selling process.
Core Functions:
- Meet with Regional Business Development Manager to establish a proposal strategy per prospect/customer/project
- Utilize and store models and tools to prepare a mock design, cost, and sales price per project.
- Prepare accurate, timely estimates and proposals.
- Review plans and specifications, clarify conditions and requirements
- Provide Value Engineering Options on projects
- Participate in prospect/customer project calls as necessary
- Understand basic components of construction costs and means and methods
- Understand need for site conditions and general conditions
- Understand building codes and apply codes to mock design effectively
- Effective use of CRM and ACC

Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in business or construction sciences
- Work experience may be accepted in lieu of education
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a general contractor or subcontractor construction company.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in estimating in the commercial construction, Metal Roofing & Structural Systems preferred.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Work is performed in an office environment and routinely utilizes standard office equipment, including keyboards, computers, etc., and requires close visual insight to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer, and extensive reading to perform the core functions listed in this job description. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies as well as communicate verbally. Work is primarily sedentary.
